So CamGuest recently popped up on my radar screen, and I decided I’d better take a gander. You know, I had high hopes for it at first. For one thing, CamGuest claims a substantial population of chat performers, more than a thousand in all, almost 900 of which are of the feminine persuasion. As far as I’m concerned, this is a Good Thing. There’s a lot to be said for a big selection, and frankly, with the exception of WellCams, that’s precisely what my review sites have been lacking lately. Another purported feature that got my hopes up was the promised copious free chat, which is just what Dr. Chris ordered. Can I get an Amen on that?
A Real Nice Selection…Or Is It?
As you might expect, the selection offered by CamGuest is fairly typical of a large, well-rounded adult chat site. While most of the girls are white and appear to come from Eastern European countries (gee, what a surprise), a quick look around revealed enough ladies of other ethnicities to keep things interesting. I was also impressed by the fact that, as with all good sites of this type, they aren’t all little prefab Barbies. (Incidentally, SeventeenLive? This particular barb is aimed at you. ) Some of performers actually fall into the BBW category, and there are a few mature ladies of the kind you won’t find on any of those shallow, youth-oriented chat sites.
Now, let me point out that this how things would be if we lived in perfect world and if CamGuest were on the up-and-up, which we don’t and it’s apparently not. I’m not sure if the site is meant to be like this, but the sad fact is that no matter when I logged on or how long I spent there, I could never catch a performer online. Not even Friday night, which you would think would be a good, profitable time for them. Nope. Everyone was always and forever offline. If there were any exceptions, I couldn’t find any. I couldn’t even find any schedules anywhere to tell me when someone might be online, so I could plan my own schedule around it. Needless to say, this means I had zero opportunity to try out that copious free chat. Bummer.
The Awful Details
It may be that CamGuest is just fine, and that — for some unknowable reason — I always happen to come along at the wrong time. Or maybe I’m just blind. But even a blind hog finds the occasional acorn, and I should have rooted out one or two over the past week or so. I checked often enough. But anyway — let’s assume that I can’t tell my ass from a hole in the ground, as we like to say back home, and that it actually is possible to find someone online occasionally. Let’s further assume that you’re not a cheap, flint-hearted bastard like me, and are willing to pay for the occasional online party. Well, then, the news is mixed. You’ll be happy to learn that registering is still free, and takes no more than the standard name, rank, and serial number (otherwise known as username, password, and email address). So far, so good. But the ladies don’t give the good stuff away for free, so expect to pay in the ouch-inducing range of $3.00 per minute for private chat (some girls less, some girls more). VIP chat is even more expensive, because after all, that’s where the action is. Presumably. Should the cost fail to deter you, then damn the torpedoes, full steam ahead — you can use your credit cards or a check to stock your account in monetary increments of $25, $50, $75, or $100 at a time.
Technologically, CamGuest is a nice enough site. Whatever its other failings, it’s easy on the eyes, the video is broadband (what little you get of it), and you won’t have to worry about the site mechanics clogging up your computer. It’s easy to navigate from one chat host to the next, which you’re liable to do fairly often as you flail around looking for someone to work with.
In Memoriam
My Mom always says you that if you can’t say something good about someone, then you shouldn’t say anything at all — but then, she doesn’t write adult chat site reviews (thank goodness). Anyway, CamGuest isn’t horrible. It looks nice, and if anyone was ever there, you might actually get some free chat. I wish I could tell you for certain one way or another, but I can’t, because once again I’ve stumbled across an untenanted adult chat site. Consequently I have to say, yet again, that you shouldn’t waste your time here at CamGuest. Go get your free at Flirt4Free, Livejasmin or Cams.com, or some nice little chat site like that.
