As far as I’m concerned, there’s a lot to be said for simplicity in website design, even — especially — in the adult chat industry. Think about it: what do you really need besides a basic layout, a searchable database, chat host software, and a way to display and organize thumbnails? I’m sure there are a few more things to it that occur behind the scenes, but basically, anything beyond that’s bells and whistles — and it’s the bells and whistles that slow my computer down, which as long-time readers (all three of you) may remember , really torques my toast.
All of which is a long way of saying that I like PlaymateShows for its simplicity. No funny background, no complex interface, nothing to keep me from getting my virtual hands on those virtual body parts all the girls are showing off. Here, take a look yourself:
Ironically, the site layout was even simpler than it appears above when I started my review yesterday. They changed it in the interim. Iimagine my surprise when I checked back on a few details; for about a minute, I thought it was another site with the same name. I still find it unusually well designed and easy to use, however. So there, ye gods of perversity!
PlaymateShows isn’t the biggest site ever, but I do like the size: with 889 performers, it’s tons bigger than sites like 247live, and not so big that it’s hard to use, like camcontacts or ImLive can be. Oh, sure, some of the performers are guys, but they’re easy enough to avoid — especially since this site has a great search filter. You can easily select the exact type of chat performer you’re looking for, whether it’s boys, girls, couples, lesbians, gays, straight boys, transgenders, BBWs, or fetish-S&M babes. In other words, the variety is also good, given the site’s size. That translates to a decent-sized list of candidates available whenever you come aboard, whether day or night. Although I did see the occasional chocolate baby and and Asian lady , the choices are nearly all European, which (along with the oddly mixed-up English visible on the page) suggests that the site originates somewhere in Eastern Europe. Hey, you didn’t expect to get any homegrown American girls here, didya? Perish the thought.
Well, now that the basics are out of the way, you probably want to know what manner of free teaser and/or chat this site offers. The answer is NADA, much to my disgust; that’s two likeable sites in a row (IsLive was the first) shot down by bitter reality. Nevertheless, despite the fact that my miser’s heart is broken, I’m equal to the task of reviewing the site anyway. Even if there’s no free naughty bits, there are a few items I can entertain myself with — not least of which are the free pictures in the galleries, some of which are exceedingly yummy. That’s about all there is to the free at PlaymateShows, though.
It’s my pleasure to point out that, no matter the lack of free, Playmateshows is actually pretty cheap. It’s free to sign up, and the drill is typical: just give them your username, password, and handy adult chat email address, and they’ll send you an activation link. Once you click that, you’re a member. The prices to go online with the girls (or boys, or couples, or trannies, if you’re so inclined) are standardized, so no guessing about what one thing or another will cost you. The price is $1.48 per minute for chat, and $1.98 per minute for private chat, assuming you go by the credit card route. If you do, you’ve got the option of buying $25, $35, $50, $75, and $100 worth of time using your Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or JCB. You can even do it anonymously if you want. But! You can also go with the old Pay-By-Phone option, in which case it’ll cost about the same, though sadly this isn’t supported in the United States. If I wasn’t so decidedly masculine, I’d type one of those little frowny face things right about now. So okay, this isn’t Extasycams, the cheapest adult chat site ever. It isn’t even IsLive, which I reviewed last week. But you know what? The rates are still damn good. Assuming, of course, you absolutely must pay.
Have I mentioned that I like the way this site looks and feels? The interface quite easy to use, with no lag between chat hosts should you decide to jump around a bit, and it’s easy to select how to get going and even when — you can make an appointment, just like you would with the dentist (though hopefully the outcome is a bit more pleasant). The chat host itself seems pretty smooth and nicely broadband, though I only got to experience a tiny bit of it (miser, here). I definitely recommend going through the ladies’ picture galleries before buying. There’s some pretty kinky stuff there, and it’ll give you a good idea whether or not a particular girl’s offering what you want.
I like PlaymateShows. But can I recommend it? No, I can’t. It doesn’t have a lick of free teaser of any kind, dammit. What it does have is an easy, straightforward interface, an uncluttered look and feel, and cheap adult chat. If only they’d add some free teaser, even a few minutes, then it would be near-perfect. I’m going to keep an eye on this one, and if they decide to change their policy on free chat, I’ll bring you an update.
