As one online pundit put it, apparently they’ve all recently received a memo commanding them to put on a good show for everyone. As a result, you sometimes get to see what you’d have to pay to go “private” to see on other sites — basically, the whole sticky nine yards.
Here’s how they hook you: they give you just enough free time, in this case 20 minutes, to make you want more. It’s advertised as “200 free credits,” but these credits (unlike the ones you pay for) vanish at a rate of ten to the minute. Otherwise you can buy credits at the following rates:
· 130 credits for $19.95 ($1.53/minute)
· 230 credits for $29.95 ($1.30/minute)
· 600 credits for $64.95 ($1.08/minute)
· 1020 credits for $99.95 ($0.98/minute)
As you can see, purchased chat credits expire at a rate of one per minute. These are excellent rates that only get better as you pump in more money. You can pay by either check or credit card.
There ’s only one thing I don’t like about this site: the fact that, no matter whether or not you pay for chat, you only get low-speed, jerky video transmissions. It would be nice if everything moved smoothly, the way it does in real life; on the other hand, the image quality’s good enough to see absolutely everything, which makes it a great option for those of us who prefer not to spend $4.99+ per minute for private chat. Heck, you don’t have to spend anything if you don’t want to. Given the price, I’m willing to overlook the site’s flaws, and so I’ll give SecretFriends top marks. Let me know what you think.
